Children's Hospital supporter Pekka Rinne wins NHL award for "humanitarian contribution to his community"

Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne has been awarded the NHL's King Clancy Memorial Trophy, given each year to the "player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."

A substantial part of his contribution to the community is his work at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt – work which is especially highlighted in one of the videos posted by the Predators after the announcement that Rinne had won the award. Steven Webber, MBChB, MRCP, pediatrician-in-chief at Children’s Hospital, speaks of Rinne’s dedication to the hospital and his support of research into pediatric cancers.
