Additional Information: Ordering Labs with New Timed Priority
Beginning July 28, there is a new priority for ordering labs, which indicates labs that need to be drawn at a specific time. This change will help streamline lab orders and will impact all users who order or collect labs.
When certain labs are ordered, the specific Once Timed frequency can be selected prior to signing order of labs, giving the order a timed priority.
Peak or trough drug levels for the following medications with a frequency of Once, Daily, or Morning Draw, the Priority will be automatically set to Timed:
-
Gentamicin Level (LAB28, LAB26)
-
Tobramycin Level (LAB36, LAB38)
-
Vancomycin Level (LAB41, LAB39)
-
Tacrolimus Trough (LAB876)
-
Sirolimus Trough (LAB875)
-
Cyclosporine Trough (LAB874)
-
Amikacin (LAB145, LAB3078)
When the following labs are ordered, they will have a specific Once Timed frequency that can be selected prior to signing the order. This gives the order a timed priority:
-
Lactic Acid (LAB95)
-
Partial Thromboplastin Time (LAB325)
-
Troponin (LAB747)
-
Vancomycin Random (LAB40)
-
Tobramycin Random (LAB37)
-
Gentamicin Random (LAB27)
-
Amikacin Random (LAB3077)
The following labs will have multiple Timed frequencies. For the cases of every “X” hours Timed, each release instance will have a priority of Timed.
-
Partial Thromboplastin Time (LAB325)
-
Troponin-I (Once and Q6H only) (LAB747)
-
Unfractionated Heparin Assay (LAB317)
Please review Tip Sheet “Ordering Labs with New Timed Priority” for more information.
