COVID-19 asymptomatic pre-procedural testing guidance changed

Due to the rising number of cases due to the delta variant, VUMC will resume SARS-CoV-2 asymptomatic pre-procedure testing for fully vaccinated patients effective Wednesday, Aug. 18.  The process and guidance for testing for these patients remains the same as is currently in place for unvaccinated patients.

VUMC perioperative teams will be reaching out to patients with affected procedures scheduled for next week to inform them of the need for testing. In addition, in order to streamline the process in the event a patient arrives at VUMC without a required pre-procedural test, specimens sent to the lab (as a Red Dot priority) should have the scheduled start time for the procedure noted on the label.
