Flula-2-Uza: 5 tips for getting your flu shot

Flu season is here, and we want to ensure our VUMC faculty and staff are safe and healthy all season long. Through the second annual Flula-2-Uza event, VUMC has made it easy and convenient for you to receive your flu vaccine. Here are the top five things you should know about how to participate in Flula-2-Uza.

  1. Receiving a flu vaccination on VUMC’s Nashville campus.

As a VUMC faculty and staff member, you can receive your flu vaccination at the following onsite locations.

  • Occupational Health Clinic, 6th Floor of the Medical Arts Building (Nashville Campus) Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm.
  • Occupational Health Clinic at One Hundred Oaks Thursday’s, 8:00 am-11:30 am.
  • Become a certificated peer vaccinator through the Peer Vaccination Program and vaccinate your fellow coworkers.
  • Request our Occupational Health staff to come to you through the OHC Comes to You program.
  • To receive a flu vaccine at Vanderbilt Wilson County, Vanderbilt Bedford and Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton, please reach out to your respective Occupational Health resource at your location.
  1. Obtaining a flu vaccine in the community.
  2. Ensuring your flu documentation is submitted to Occupational Health Clinic.
    • If you receive your vaccine at any onsite locations or Occupational Health Clinic programs listed above, you do not have to separately submit your flu documentation.
    • If you receive your flu vaccination at an offsite Vanderbilt Health Clinic or through a Vanderbilt provider, you need to either grant consent for Occupational Health Clinic to receive those records through eStar or self-report here. Providing consent ahead of time for OHC to automatically import your flu vaccine from your VUMC medical record into your Occupational Health record eliminates the need for you to send us information after-the-fact.
    • If you receive a flu vaccine outside of any VUMC facility, you will need to self-report here.
  3. Deadline for exemptions and receiving your flu shot.
    • The deadline to receive your flu vaccine or submit an exemption request is December 1st.
  4. Finding more information about Flula-2-Uza and the flu vaccine.

Whether you’re on VUMC Nashville campus, at a community health clinic, or becoming a certified peer vaccinator, you are taking the first important step to protect yourself and your community.
