Community-wide disaster drill set for March 3

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is taking part in a community-wide disaster drill on Tuesday, March 3, with the scenario of three tornados hitting the Middle Tennessee area resulting in an influx of mass casualty patients. Hundreds of mock patients will be transported across the region.

VUMC Departments participating include: Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments, Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Nursing Services, LifeFlight, Vanderbilt University Police Department, Traffic and Parking, Guest Services, Pharmacy, Laboratory Services, Patient Transport, Blood Bank, EAP, Pastoral Services, Adult and Children’s Access Centers, Social Work, Vanderbilt Home Health, Adult and Children’s Registration, Decedent Affairs, Labor Pool, Supply Chain, VEHS,  EVS, Volunteer Services, Finance, Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Interpreter Services and VUMC Emergency Preparedness and Response.

Other participants in the drill are part of the Tennessee Highland Rim Healthcare coalition who is sponsoring the exercise.

The drill is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and VUMC’s Emergency Operations Center will be open at 7:30 a.m.. For more information, call 615-343-3189
