Guidance for employees returning from travel/out of town vacations

As travel and vacations are resuming, it is important to maintain a focus on safety for you, your family, your colleagues and patients when you return to work from traveling.

  • While traveling, take and wear a cloth mask in all public situations where you cannot maintain 6-foot distancing (including on crowded public transportation).

  • Avoid large public gatherings, especially indoors, even if you are wearing a mask.

  • Focus on outdoor activities, as these have a lower risk of exposure to others who may be infected with COVID.

  • Avoid sharing food and drinks with others.

  • Take plenty of hand sanitizer with you and wash your hands regularly.

  • With increasing state travel restrictions it is advised that employees check on specific state rules before traveling.  There are currently no isolation requirements when returning from travel to Tennessee.

  • Faculty, house staff, and staff returning from travel outside of Nashville can return to work immediately post-travel, as long as they are not showing any COVID symptoms.

  • In the event any COVID-associated symptoms develop, STOP work immediately, remove yourselves from patient care, contact your supervisor, notify Occupational Health and undergo assessment for COVID-19.
