eStar Update: Expansion of PREDICT Program
Recently, the PREDICT (Pharmacogenomic Resource for Enhanced Decisions in Care and Treatment), a genomic laboratory panel test supports providers with information about how their patients may respond to different medicines, was updated with five (5) SSRIs and an antiemetic to the PREDICT arsenal, bringing its total to 16 drug-gene-interactions. (For a complete list, please visit: https://www.mydruggenome.org/dgi/)
Providers and patients may have received communications about these efforts through eStar and My Health at Vanderbilt. Regardless of the changes, there is no new testing, and no charges to patients – only extension of the previous results to support the prescribing of additional drugs. By revisiting historical results against the current, expanded framework, the PREDICT program has enabled the most complete suite of clinical decision support to help guide prescribing.
Further support for the use of these results for patient care is available through e-consults by pharmacogenomics pharmacist, Michelle Liu (michelle.liu.1@vumc.org). In addition, outpatient consults are available through the VUMC Genomics and Therapeutics Clinic to help advise pharmacogenomic testing and interpretation (GATC@vumc.org). For general questions about the PREDICT program, contact PREDICT@vumc.org .
eStar Update: Telehealth Eligibility Indicator: eLearning Available
Clinicians and schedulers now have a new eStar tool available to help schedule telehealth visits for VUMC patients.
The Telehealth Eligibility Indicator uses eStar insurance information to assess if and where a patient can have a telehealth appointment covered by their insurance. Displaying easy-to-read results in the Storyboard, the new tool will help reduce confusion about offering telehealth visits to patients.
