Cell and Developmental Biology seminar series features Jadranka Loncarek, Aug. 24

The Cell and Developmental Biology Monday Seminar on Aug. 24 will feature Jadranka Loncarek, Ph.D. presenting on "The Mechanisms of Centriole Assembly.”  The event begins via Zoom at 12:15 p.m.

Centrioles are microtubule-based structures that build centrosomes and cilia and are, in humans, critical for numerous cellular processes such as cellular signaling, mitotic spindle assembly, and cellular architecture. How centrioles, assemble in a proper number and shape is still an open question and will be the subject of this presentation.

Jadranka Loncarek, Ph.D.  is a cell and molecular biologist researching the molecular mechanism of centrosome biogenesis and their function, with particular attention on numerical control of centrosome formation in non-transformed and cancerous human cells. Loncarek is hosted by Irina Kaverina.
