Academy for Excellence in Education Awards and new members recognition held

As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Academy for Excellence in Education (AEE) Recognition gathering took place virtually this year using Zoom on 8/31/20.  There was “live” recognition of the awardee of the Lillian B. Nanney Award for Outstanding Service to the VUSM/VUMC Community of Educators, Geoffrey Fleming and awardee Geoffrey David Chazen Award for Innovation in Medical Education, Janice Law, followed by a virtual induction of the 15 new Academy members:

Neil Osheroff, Ph.D., Past-Director of the AEE, welcomed the 2020 AEE inductees and introduced the incoming board members, Carissa Cascio, Ph.D. and Laura Wayman, MD Donald Brady, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Bonnie Miller, MD recognized for his service and leadership as AEE Director with an award. Joseph Gigante, MD assumed the role of Director in July and will serve as Director 2020-2022.

Established in 2006, the Academy provides a forum to foster higher levels of participation and promote excellence and scholarship in the delivery of education to health care professionals.
