New imaging system coming to VUMC
On October 25, a brand-new imaging system is coming to VUMC. SECTRA will be the official system for storing, managing and viewing images at the Medical Center. On the same day, we will also welcome a new eStar module just for Radiology, known as Radiant.
Our implementation of Radiant and SECTRA is an exciting step forward for our teams, allowing us to imagine many new possibilities. Because it’s part of eStar, Radiant not only integrates seamlessly with the rest of our EHR, but allows us to benefit from regular updates from Epic to ensure we’re staying well ahead of what’s new in health care. Perhaps best of all for our users, we’re reducing the number of different systems users will have to rely on throughout the day.
Users of Radiant and SECTRA can expect to see some exciting benefits, including:

Improvements in reliability, performance and efficiency

Consolidation of intraprocedural documentation by tech, nurse and provider directly into eStar

Structured data and reports available natively in eStar, and improved data mining capabilities

Enhanced visibility of documentation

Enhanced workflows to support viewing images on mobile platforms
While many users will receive formal training in how to use the robust version of SECTRA, many users will simply want to become more familiar with how these images appear in the “lighter” version of the imaging system, known as Uniview. An eLearning for the more robust version of SECTRA is expected to be available the week of October 5.
