Clothes Closet requests donations of men's shoes; work area with most donations wins candy

The VUMC Clothing Closet, which collects and provides new clothes and shoes to patients being discharged and who need clothes, is calling on all departments and units to help our patients.

Upon discharge from VUMC, homeless and low-income patients are only granted Metro transportation when they are wearing shoes. The inventory of shoes for men in the Clothing Closet has been depleted.

The leaders of the Clothing Closet are requesting donations of new or slightly used men's shoes by Oct. 15. The closet is collecting sandals, flip flops, athletic, casual, and dress shoes, new or slightly used. Men's shoes are needed, but women's are not at this time.

Items may be dropped off at the information desks at Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital or Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Whichever department, unit or area collects the most shoes for this campaign will receive individually sealed candy and cookie treats for 40 staff members in appreciation.
