New interoperability rules go into effect Nov. 1
A cross-functional team that is working to ensure VUMC is ready by November 1 to comply with key parts of new federal rules issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), as part of the 21st Century Cures Act. The rules place strong emphasis on putting patients in charge of their health records and mandate that all health systems across the country give patients easy, electronic and secure access to their Electronic Health Information.
Training and education are being finalized to help our team members understand the impacts of these rules and how the impacts will affect their clinical work. To help assist colleagues until this training is finalized, please review the following resources:
