Latest eStar updates and changes announced

eStar updates have been announced:

New Hospice Class and Scatter Bed Workflow

Beginning March 4, a new “Hospice Care” patient class and hospice scatter bed workflow will be available in eStar. This will only affect users in the adult hospital.

The new patient class and workflows are being implemented to help streamline both access to inpatient hospice care when needed, as well as admissions for patients with inpatient hospice care needs. The new class and workflow will also help improve the process for reporting of patient care.

The new patient class and scatter bed workflow will be used for transitioning currently admitted inpatient to inpatient hospice care, as well as transitioning patients in the Emergency Department (ED) to hospice care. Patients must meet the criteria for inpatient hospice care eligibility before colleagues can begin the new workflow

Primary impacted users will be inpatient clinicians and admitting/registration staff in Vanderbilt University Hospital. Inpatient nurses in VUH will need to be aware of the change, though their workflow should not be impacted.

eLearning modules are available for overview of how to use Hospice Class and hospice scatter bed workflow. There are two separate modules, one specific to users in the Emergency Department and the other for general inpatient users.

A Quick Start Guide (QSG) “Hospice Scatter Bed” (available in Hubbl) has been prepared that will provide additional information.

Impacted users should view appropriate eLearning (select “Enroll” to choose module) and QSG before change is live.

Disclosure Event Note

Effective immediately, a new Disclosure Event Note is available in eStar. This new note has been designed to meet regulatory requirements for disclosure of an event where harm-causing errors have occurred. Impacting clinicians, this note type is available in Notewriter to facilitate accurate and timely documentation of the Disclosure discussion. More details are available here.
