A roundup of a few recent stories from the press about Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Associated Press reporter Mike Stobbe interviewed William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, for a story about the measles. The New York Times published a piece, “Hospitals Stand to Lose Billions Under ‘Medicare for All,’” that quotes Melinda Buntin, PhD, chair of Health Policy.

 Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Jeremy Redmon interviewed Reid Thompson, MD, professor and chair of Neurological Surgery, and Robert Miller, MD, professor of Clinical Medicine, for a story about burn pits and whether there is an association with brain cancer.

Le Magazine de la Santé, a France 5 public health channel seen by 800 000 viewers, mostly in France, showed the Honor Walk video and discussed the tradition on April 23 during its hour and a half live show presented by two doctors.

An Ivanhoe Broadcast News/Child Trends News Service story featuring Shari Barkin, MD, division chief of Academic General Pediatrics and director of Pediatric Obesity Research, speaking about the GROW Trial was released to local television outlets throughout the country and also posted on YouTube and the childtrends.org website.

The Lebanon Democrat listed 24 local “pink tie guys” named by the Susan G. Komen Foundation for their commitment to breast cancer care and research. Among them were Brian Lehmann, PhD, research assistant professor of Biochemistry, and Ben Park, MD, professor of Medicine and Donna S. Hall professor of Breast Cancer.
