eStar updates announced on pain agreement status and lipid labs for dialysis patients
Notification of Pain Agreement Status
To help guide clinicians in placing new opioid orders and promote opioid safety, the order composer will now feature a notification when a patient has a pain agreement with a provider. This new notification will begin on July 10, 2019, though scanning documents are now available.
Any clinician can now easily see if a patient has a pain agreement in place with another provider. When ordering opioid, the pain agreement notification appears in the order composer. If the agreement is with a different clinician, that clinician’s name will also display. If there is no active pain agreement, the order composer will state that as well
Clinicians should remember to look for the pain agreement notation before ordering an opioid. Please review the Tip Sheet “Notifying Providers of Pain Agreement Status” (located in Hubbl) for more information.
Reminder: Dialysis Patients Need Lipid Labs Before Hospital Admission
Ambulatory clinicians who have patients going to 7S Dialysis as an inpatient must order Lipid labs prior to the patient’s admission. This is necessary to improve patient care by ensuring needed orders are ready as soon as patient arrives.
The “Orders for Hospital” is an available option under the “More Activity”, allowing ambulatory clinicians to enter inpatient orders prior to admission. Lipid Labs can be drawn immediately on the patient’s admission. Ambulatory clinicians can also use this functionality for entering other necessary hospital orders.
Please review the Tip Sheet “Placing Hospital Orders for Dialysis in Outpatient Encounter: Lipid Labs” for more Information.
