eStar updates announced on pain agreements in eStar and saved payment cards
Change to Saved Payment Card Process
A forthcoming change to the payment card process will help to improve the payment experience for VUMC’s patients.
Currently, patients can save a payment card in eStar, but that card is only available for use in the department or location where it was originally saved. The new process will allow saved payment cards to be used at any VUMC department or location.
Patients with saved payment card information in eStar should be presented with the option to select the saved card(s) when making a payment. When a saved card is selected, the patient can make payments without having to present and swipe their payment card.
Implementation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 beginning at 9 PM. Payment card processing will be disabled for approximately one (1) hour. Payment card processing should be restored (including the new functionality) by 10 PM.
Please refer to the Tip Sheet “Payments Using a Saved Credit Card” (available in Hubbl) for more information.
Please contact the Help Desk (343-HELP) for any issues with payment card processing after 10 PM on July 24.
Pain Agreements in eStar
On July 10, a new notification appeared in the order composer when a patient has a pain agreement with another clinician. The original announcement of this change indicated that there would also be a notification if there were no active pain agreement on file, but this notification has been disabled.
