Nominations open for Social Worker of the Year

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center adult hospital Carolyn Edwards Social Worker of the Year Committee is accepting nominations Jan.13 through Jan. 31.

This award honors a social worker who works within the Transition Management Department at VUMC adult hospital who exemplifies the best of the profession's values and achievements through specific accomplishments.  The recipient of this award will be honored during a Social Work Month event in March.

The Social Worker of the Year will show exceptional service through consistent performance in the areas of:

  • Professionalism (i.e. continuing to improve skills, supports colleagues, responds to referrals promptly)
  • Advocacy (facilitates access to various resources, encourages patient decision-making, supports patient rights)
  • Relationship-Building (communicates effectively, enhances continuity of care)
  • Compassionate Care (demonstrates cultural competency and empathy, responsive to patient/family needs)

Anyone can submit a nomination.  Nominations can be made by a group or an individual.  For groups making a nomination, we ask that you identify one contact person.

The Carolyn Edwards Social Worker of the Year Committee will select the recipient based on the information provided in the nomination.
