The Washington Post reporter Lena Sun interviewed William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, for two stories — one a question-and-answer roundup of flu information, and the other a story about children dying from the flu this year. The second story was also picked up by The Chicago Tribune. In addition, NPR's “Weekend Edition” host Lulu Garcia-Navarro interviewed Schaffner for a segment answering listerner's flu questions.
Schaffner was also interviewed by WebMD reporter Stephanie Watson for a general overview on shingles.
Associated Press national reporter Marilynn Marchione interviewed Stacy Dorris, MD, assistant professor of Pediatrics, for a story about a new treatment to help sensitize severely allergic children to peanuts. The story was picked up by news outlets all over the country.
The New York Times reporter Nicholas Bakalar interviewed Andrew Wiese, MPH, research fellow in Health Policy, for a story about his Annals of Internal Medicine study on opioid use and the risk of serious infection.
MedPage Today executive producer Roger Sergel interviewed Corey Slovis, MD, professor and chair of Emergency Medicine, for a story about preparations for on-the-scene treatment during mass shootings.
