Medical Center house staff to hold VUMC Day of Silence for Black Lives

Members of the VUMC community are invited to join members of the Medical Center’s house staff in an observation, a Day of Silence for Black Lives, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10, on the plaza.

Participants are invited to stand in solidarity to honor the lives of the multitude of Black men and women killed as a result of racial injustice and to be part of change.

The event is being held on the plaza outside of Au Bon Pain. House staff will gather in a physically distanced manner in groups of 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a recurring moment of silence -- lasting 8 minutes and 46 seconds -- throughout the day.

There will also be information provided on specific ways allies can advocate for the patients and communities we serve.

Participants are asked to please remember to wear a mask and stay at least 6 feet apart in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
