VUMC sources quoted by major news organizations

William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, continues to be one of the most in-demand sources about COVID-19, influenza and other subjects in the news. Among the news organizations he has spoken with recently: The Washington Post, Prevention, Healthline, CBS News, and WebMD. Schaffner is also quoted in a Washington Post profile of former Vanderbilt faculty member Barney Graham, MD, deputy director of the Vaccine Research Center at the NIH.

Keipp Talbot, MD, associate professor of Medicine, was interviewed for an Associated Press story about the FDA’s decision about booster shots for the Pfizer COVID vaccine. She was also interviewed by, among others, NBC News and NPR.

National Geographic reporter Stacey Colino interviewed Justin Turner, MD, PhD, associate professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, for a story about how COVID-19 infection can affect the senses (either temporarily or permanently).

Reuters Health editor Marilynn Larkin interviewed Marshall Brinkley, MD, assistant professor of Medicine, Division of Heart Failure and Transplantation, for a story about his JACC Heart Failure article on pulmonary artery pressure monitoring to reduce heart failure hospitalizations.

Wes Ely, MD, Grant W. Liddle Professor of Medicine, was quoted, by NBC News in a story about some social media posters urging even very sick COVID patients to shun hospitals and ICUs.
